Dr. Solomon did her undergraduate training at Rutgers University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and designated a George H. Cook Scholar. She was selected for membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She received her medical training from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, and received her MD degree in 2002. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Morristown Memorial Hospital, in Morristown, NJ, in 2005. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Solomon has dedicated her post-residency training to furthering her understand of the evaluation and management of obesity, a chronic medical condition which is a leading cause of premature death affecting Americans in epidemic proportions. She is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) and has completed their intensive accredited training program in bariatric medicine. She has attended many seminars and lectures given by leading experts in the field of bariatrics. Dr. Solomon is a member of several organizations whose primary objectives are to promote public awareness of obesity and provide education on the most current trends in the science of treating obesity. Memberships
Board Certification in Bariatric Medicine Dr. Solomon is currently pursuing board certification in bariatric medicine. She has passed oral & written components of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine (ABBM) board certification exam and is awaiting her Patient Care Review (site audit) to complete the board certification process. She is anticipating completion of the process in 2008. We will keep you posted on her progress. Bariatric Medicine Subspecialty Recognition In 2007, the ABBM and American Board of Medical Subspecialties (ABMS) has created a joint task force to define the Core Competencies of Bariatric Medicine, the first step in the process of ABMS accreditation. The organization plans to complete this process in 2008 and covert it to residency/fellowship training recommendations
The National Uniform Claim Committee has recently designated a taxonomy code for bariatricians to identify themselves as providers of bariatric medicine. This update went into effect October, 2007 and helps pave the way toward subspecialty recognition. Dr. Solomon has updated her NPI# accordingly. Bariatric Physicians Practice Guidelines Dr. Solomon has pledged compliance with the American Society of Bariatric Physicians Practice Guidelines. Donna Woody is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an adult educator. She received her training from Rutgers University, earning her M.Ed. degree in 1989 and her M.S.W. degree in 2005. Donna has been doing psychotherapy since 2005 and has been developing a specialty in wellness and bariatric (weight-related) issues. Donna has worked as a Primary Therapist at Princeton Behavioral Health in Princeton, NJ and as a psychotherapist in a group practice in central New Jersey. She provides individual therapy with clients along with facilitating psychotherapy groups, and psycho educational groups. She also has an extensive background in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, and stress management. Weight Loss issues and their overall impact on health and mental health has been a long time passion. For eight years, Donna worked for a commercial weight loss program in New Jersey. She believes in the power of the group and in the importance of helping people learn new behaviors so they can be successful and achieve their weight loss goals. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and continues her professional education through attendance at workshops and trainings. She recently attended training on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for weight loss, taught by Dr. Judith Beck, author of the Beck Diet Solution. Donna believes that each client is unique and has different needs and learning styles. She is committed to designing a specialized treatment plan for each client.
